In his 2025 Eid-Al-Adha message, the National Chief Imam, Sheik Dr. Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, has admonished Ghanaians and the international community to embrace interfaith harmony, sacrifice and moral renewal.

Sheik Sharubutu, ahead of the Eid celebration on Friday, June 6, 2025, described in a statement he delivered that the festival of Eid-Al-Adha is more than the ritual of sacrifice but a call to divine devotion and societal transformation geared toward global peace.

Referencing Qur’an Chapter 22, verse 37, the Chief Imam said “Eid-Al-Adha is a festivity of sacrifice and an opportunity to reaffirm our faith in Allah,” he said, noting that “Allah is not interested in the flesh and blood of the animals sacrificed… but in our commitment to piety.”

The Sheik cautioned that the virtues of the celebration will be fruitless if they do not lead to attitudinal cleansing and moral growth, urging the Muslim community to reflect on the essence of the occasion to inspire a transformation “from negativity to positivity in the supreme interest of our society.”

He said Prophet Abraham’s obedience, which is the heart of Eid-Al-Adha, should unite all Abrahamic faiths in mutual respect to enhance interfaith unity.

“This is the point of convergence of all the Abrahamic religions,” he said, calling on Christians, Jews, and Muslims to see the festival as an opportunity to renew their commitment to peaceful coexistence.

The message, conveyed through his Personal Assistant, Dr Abubakari Mohammed Marzuq Azindoo, underscored the need for practical action rooted in faith and shared human values to tackle today’s moral and humanitarian challenges.
