The Children’s Support Fund, established to ensure the welfare of the children of victims from the tragic August 6 helicopter crash, has received a total of GHS 3,576,600.00 and US$20,000.00 in donations.
The Presidency released a public update on Friday, August 29, 2025, detailing the latest contributions received between August 19 and August 28.
The fund was set up in the wake of the military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight high-profile officials, including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Minister for Environment, Science and Technology Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.
According to the update, a diverse group of individuals and corporate entities have contributed to the fund.
Notable donors include Ghana Airport Ltd, ARB Apex Bank PLC, STL Foundation, Olam Agric, Fidelity Bank Ghana, ADB Bank, GLICO General Insurance, and the National Insurance Commission.
The list also features contributions from private citizens, including Kennedy Hedoe, Peter Adongo, Mensah Michael, Appaul Wiredu Lateef, Samuel Hodalor, and Dauda Iddi.
The donations will be used to support the education, healthcare, and general welfare of the children left behind by the tragedy.
Dr. Valerie Sawyerr, the Senior Presidential Advisor on Governmental Affairs and Coordinator of the Fund, announced that the Presidency will continue to publish a list of donors on a weekly basis to ensure transparency and accountability.
