Concerned Cocoa Farmers Association of Ghana has petitioned the relevant state authorities and agencies over the ongoing destruction of their cocoa farms.
In a statement signed by the National President of Concerned Cocoa Farmers Association of Ghana, Farmer General Nana Oboadie Boateng Bonsu II, on Monday, September 14,2026, he said Cocoa remains the backbone of Ghana’s economy and the livelihood of millions of families.
” The continued destruction of our farms is causing severe loss of livelihood and poses a threat to our national interest.
Despite our numerous petitions, public appeals, and engagements, we are yet to see decisive action to halt this destruction. We therefore wish to state as follows:
1. We renew our humble appeal to Government, COCOBOD, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, and the security agencies to urgently intervene and protect cocoa farms across the country.
2. We call on all cocoa farmers to remain law-abiding while being vigilant.
3. We remind all farmers that under the laws of Ghana, every citizen has the right to lawfully protect their property. We encourage all farmers to protect their farms through lawful and peaceful means only, including forming community watch groups, documenting any destruction with evidence, and promptly reporting any trespass or destruction to the police, traditional authorities, and COCOBOD.
We remain committed to dialogue and peaceful engagement and have no intention of taking the law into our own hands.”
He was hopeful that their call will receive the urgent attention it deserves.
