The Vice President and Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has called for collaboration among churches, government and faith- based organisations which will pave way for a government led by him to formerly recognise them as key development partners of the country.

He noted that incentives given to external development partners such as tax rebate should rather be for partners like churches who are local development partners who would not leave the country as compared to the external partners.

The Presidential Candidate of the NPP said this when he addressed the clergy in the Volta Region in Ho, as part of his one-day campaign tour of the Volta region.

Dr Bawumia said he never thought of becoming a politician, but God ways are not known man and believed that his election to lead the NPP was by divine intervention.

According to him, if he wins the 2024 general election, he would concentrate on serving the people and address their critical needs.

He added that the New Patriotic Party led by him would not take Ghanaians for granted as he is coming up with his 2024 manifesto to address the needs of Ghanaians.

He explained that his tour of the region is to solicit views from the people to enable him develop a comprehensive manifesto.

Dr Bawumia said they are listening to complaints as they go round the country. He believes that such concerns would inform him to lead Ghana into a prosperous and united nation.

He further said that he would support the needy through programmes and policies that would be geared towards their wellbeing when given the opportunity as the next President of Ghana.

Dr. Bawumia reiterated the need to train the youth to acquire employable skills ready to help lessen the economic hardship that the country is currently experiencing, adding that one million youth would be targeted to be trained in digital education to enable majority of Ghanaians become digital literates.

The Presidential Candidate therefore called on the clergy to offer their prayers and support to make his dreams come true.

The Chairman of the Campaign Team, Mr Dan Botwe said the NPP and Dr Bawumia recognise the important role the clergy plays in national development and would always ask for their assistance in the form of prayer.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Volta Region Christian Council, Rev. Seth Mawutor, lauded the good policies and programmes of the NPP government and prayed that God would help him to attain his wishes.
