Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson, has appealed to staff and heads of Ministeries Departments, and Agencies working with the Western Regional Coordinating Council (WRCC) to discharge their duties bearing in mind the overall interest of the nation.
He said they must have Ghana’s interest at heart as they serve the nation with commitment and passion.
Mr Nelson said this when he assumed office on Tuesday 11th February 2025.
He said service to the nation remains the cardinal principle binding all public servants working together and that the commitment to offer the best of service ought to be maintained.
“Let me indicate that there is one thing that binds all of us, and that’s service to this dear nation of ours,” he stressed.
According to the Minister, irrespective of the role, duty, and function of the staff, what matters most to Ghana and for that matter Ghanaians, is the ability to shoulder the responsibility assigned them with the desired commitment to produce results.
“Whatever service you are offering, and what I am going to offer, are going to be at the heart of the welfare of the people” he noted.
“So this morning, it is just a reminder that whatever we have been doing up to this time, I have come, that we will reenforce it, so that we are better able to deliver that service that would make the lives of the people of Western Region better, much much better than it’s been. That commitment is what I am bringing on board and that commitment is what I seek from you, so that together we will be able to work to uplift the image of the Western Region” he emphasised.
Addressing staff and heads of departments of Western Regional Coordinating Council (WRCC) as part of his maiden meeting with the management and staff of the institution, the Minister also assured capos of the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) of his readiness to lead the body as Chairman.
Joseph Nelson interacted with the staff after the official ceremony to ascertain challenges facing them in their operations.
Subsequently he also engaged the media in the region and assured them of good working relationship, which he described as collaborative effort to deal with challenges facing the area.
He said the main objective of the administration of President John Dramani Mahama is to work hard to improve the welfare of Ghanaian citizens.
The Regional Minister said he will represent the President to the fullest and will encourage everyone working and living in Western Region to remain integral in championing the development objectives of the region.
