Just as it gained political independence for Ghana, the Convention People’s Party (CPP) says it is the only party with the wherewithal to redeem Ghana from its economic turmoil.

The flag bearer of the party, Nana Frimpomaa Sarpong Kumankumah, has said it is for the economic independence of Ghana that the CPP is wining the 2024 elections to complete what Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah started over six decades ago.

Few hours after her election as flag bearer at the party’s presidential primary, Nana Frimpomaa in an interview on TV3’s Ghana Tonight noted that the CPP’s focus in the upcoming election is to win and gain economic independence for Ghana.

She was commenting on the defection of Samia Yaba Nkrumah, daughter of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, from the CPP to contest as independent in the Jomoro constituency when she made the statement.

The flag bearer said the party was ready to welcome her back to her roots, adding that its main focus it to fight for Ghana’s economic independence which the CPP wants Samia back to team up and win together.

“Samia Nkrumah left active participation in the CPP when she lost in 2016. She is still dear to our heart. Any day she is ready to come back, CPP is open for her, we wish her the best.

“The situation in the party as we see it today, is not about the problems we face as a party but the problem that the nation faces today as a nation. We CPP brought the Ghana that we have today, we fought for the independence so we can still come and fight for the economic independence that has eluded us. It’s about the economy and that’s exactly what we are going to focus on,” she stated.
