An early strike by Ousmane Dembele was the only goal on Tuesday night as Paris Saint-Germain got a vital away win over Arsenal.

It was the first leg of the first semi-final clash in the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League.

Arsenal had made it to the semis after a double over record champions Real Madrid and so many were not expecting them to lose at the Emirates.

PSG, on the other hand, had to qualify at the expense of Aston Villa by just one goal. The first leg in their quarter-final game in Paris ended 3-1 while the English side won the second leg 3-2.

But Luis Enrique’s men made their intentions back in England known early in the game after Dembele’s strike beat David Raya in just the fourth minute.

Penalty calls by PSG later in the first half were ignored by Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic.

A Mikel Merino early strike for the Gunners in the second half was ruled out by Vincic after he consulted the Video Assistant Referee this time.

The French side failed to bury their late opportunities as they returned home with a 1-0 advantage.

The second leg is scheduled to be played at Parc des Princes on Wednesday, May 7.

The winner will face either Inter Milan or FC Barcelona in the final at the Allianz Arena on Saturday, May 31.
