A group of aggrieved members and grassroots supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency have announced plans for a peaceful demonstration on Thursday, May 21, 2026.

This is to protest what they describe as the “growing hijacking and manipulation” of the party’s internal electoral processes.

The group, which issued a press statement signed by spokesperson, Amporful Adu Narkaah, alleges that constituency executives and their agents have blatantly violated party guidelines governing the electoral process.

According to the statement, party members have suffered “unjustifiable exclusion, baseless disqualifications, and unfair treatment” at the hands of those tasked with supervising the electoral process.

The group also accuses regional leadership of failing to address numerous complaints and petitions submitted through internal channels.

“We believe that the NPP requires unity ahead of the 2028 general elections. However, unity cannot prevail amidst injustice, lack of transparency, intimidation, exclusion, and unfair treatment,” the statement reads.

The demonstrators are demanding among others; the annulment of the current electoral process, an independent investigation into the conduct of the polling station elections, and the conduct of fresh elections across all areas of the constituency in accordance with NPP guidelines, under the supervision of the National Elections Committee.

The demonstration is scheduled to commence at UBAS junction at exactly 7:30 am.

Organizers have assured the public, security agencies, and party faithful that the protest will be “peaceful, lawful, and orderly.”

The group is calling on well-meaning party members and sympathizers to join in solidarity to defend “fairness, transparency, and the democratic values upon which the New Patriotic Party was founded.”
