The Minority in Parliament has filed a petition to the Administrator of the District Assembly Common Fund to provide details on the prices of road construction equipment under the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP).

In a statement signed by Mahama Ayariga, Ranking Member of the Committee on Information and Communication, the Minority requested price information under section 18 of the Rights to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989).

The programme, launched Wednesday, July 31, 2024, according to the government, aims to address road maintenance challenges through collaboration with Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) and equipping them with earth-moving equipment.

The caucus is demanding the cost of each unit of equipment procured for DRIP, the payment schedule for the equipment, and the total payment made for the equipment as of now, amongst others.
