Two Black Stars players – Alexander Djiku and Joseph Paintsil – have missed the team’s trip to N’Djamena for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad.

The team left Accra Tuesday night and arrived Wednesday dawn for the clash, scheduled for the Stade Olympique Marechal Idriss Deby Itno on Thursday.

However, only 22 out of the 24 called-up players made the trip.

Djiku is scheduled to arrive in Ghana on Friday, having travelled to Moscow to sign a deal, reportedly to move away from Fenerbahce in Turkey.

Paintsil arrived Wednesday morning due to delay in his connecting flight between New York and Accra, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, said.

The LA Galaxy forward is said to have delayed at Los Angeles for a flight to New York.

“The technical team will work with 22 players for the game against Chad, scheduled for N’Djamena on Thursday, September 4, 2025,” Mr Asante Twum’s statement concluded.

The two players are among the returnees to Otto Addo’s team after missing the March qualifiers.
