With his poor performance on the economy and shunning issues related to it, John Dramani Mahama of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia does not deserve the mandate of Ghanaians.

According to Mahama, although Bawumia was brought to resolve issues relating to the economy, he has failed woefully to the extent that he is no more talking about the economy.

The flag bearer of the NDC says he is surprised that despite the Vice President’s abysmal performance on the economy, fetish priests, chiefs and the clergy are still touting his works and prophesying victory for him.

Speaking to party faithful at the St. Paul’s Anglican Church at Alogboshie in the Okaikoi North constituency Sunday, September 15, 2024, as part of his phase two tour of the Greater Accra region, John Mahama jabbed the aforementioned groups for being hypocritical and not telling the flag bearer of the NPP that he has failed.

Citing the performance of the cedi for example, John Mahama stated that those praising the Vice President and the NPP’s flag bearer for doing well are not being truthful.

“…he (Bawumia) should tell us why the cedi has depreciated from GHC4.00 to GHC16.00. We all need to be together to tell this government it is their time to leave after subjecting the nation into wickedness.

“Meanwhile, you’ll see some chiefs touting him for doing good works and what have you, and you’ll see him being blessed and praised for doing good things with assurances of winning the polls when he visits churches. When he visits the shrine you’ll see them pouring libation to the gods and being told he has done well and will become victorious. Do you win again with such an incompetent government?” he quizzed.

He admonished people to call a spade a spade and stop massaging the issues because of the party in power.

“Hypocrisy is what is pulling this nation back. If we see the truth, if it’s black it’s black, if it’s white, it is white, it doesn’t matter who is in office, we must be truthful at all times,” he added.
