Deputy Minister of Education, Dr Clement Abas Apaak, has directed the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) to engage staff of the Savanna College of Education following concerns that have disrupted their work.
The directive, issued on the authority of the Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, is aimed at addressing the concerns raised by the staff and finding an amicable resolution.
This comes as about 170 teaching and non-teaching staff of the Savannah College of Education at Daboya, have embarked on an indefinite sit-down strike.
In a social media post, Dr.Apaak appealed to the staff to resume work while efforts are being made to address their grievances.
”We appeal to the staff of the Savanna College of Education to resume work while their concerns are being addressed,” he stated.
According to the Deputy Minister, GTEC has been tasked with engaging the affected staff, with a meeting scheduled for Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
He expressed optimism about the outcome of the planned engagement, stating that “it is our expectation that the outcome of the engagement will be positive.”
The meeting is expected to provide an opportunity for both parties to discuss the concerns raised by the staff and work towards resolving the issues affecting the college.
