Leading member of the Movement for Change Party, Yaw Buabeng Asamoah says President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo handing over power to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as his next of kin equals him handing over power to the NDC.

According to him, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has deep-rooted connections to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the People’s National Convention (PNC) and has maintained these affiliations despite his prominent role within the NPP.

“Akufo-Addo has left the NPP party into the hands of an NDC and PNC man, Bawumia works side by side with NDC and PNC people, in the NPP camp that he claims to belong to, he works closely with NDC and PNC members,” he told host of Yen Nsempa Nana Yaa Brefo co-hosted by Isaac Ekow JB on May 21.

Elaborating on this, he said the Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, comes from a family with strong PNC connections while Dr. Bawumia himself comes from a lineage of NDC supporters, groomed by his father in the ways of the NDC.

“The Second Lady is a PNC member; she, her father, and all her family members are part of the PNC, his political grooming began within the NDC, influenced by his father, who was a staunch NDC member,” the Movement for Change member claimed.

Adding that Dr. Bawumia, an economist by profession, was introduced to the NPP largely due to his economic expertise.

“President Akufo-Addo believed that Bawumia’s background could significantly contribute to transforming Ghana’s economy.”

“When did you hear of him until Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo registered him under NPP and presented him as his Vice?” questioned the party member, suggesting that Bawumia’s rise within the NPP was a calculated move to leverage his economic skills, potentially overlooking his political heritage.
