In a refreshing demonstration of humility and professional maturity, Development Economist Dr. George Domfe has announced that he and political scientist Professor Ransford Gyampo the CEO of Ghana Shippers Authority, have resolved their recent public misunderstanding.
In a post shared on his Facebook page on November 20, 2025, Dr. Domfe revealed that the two academics held “a long and cordial telephone conversation” during which they openly discussed the tensions that had arisen between them.
According to Dr. Domfe, Prof. Gyampo acknowledged that some of his earlier comments about him were regrettable especially in light of their longstanding friendship and collegial relationship.
For his part, Dr. Domfe also admitted that his response to Prof. Gyampo’s commentary had been unfortunate.
Both men have since apologised to each other, reconciling their differences which ensued at TV3 studio last Saturday, November 15, 2025
“We have sincerely apologized to each other… and have mutually agreed to put this episode behind us and to move forward with renewed respect for each other,” Dr. Domfe wrote.
The two prominent public intellectuals, often vocal contributors to national debates, emphasised that disagreements must never be allowed to descend into personal hostility. They reaffirmed their commitment to contributing constructively to Ghana’s national discourse.
Dr. Domfe also used the opportunity to appeal to supporters, relatives, and well-wishers to respect their mutual resolution and avoid inflaming tensions.
“I therefore respectfully urge our families, friends, and supporters to respect this mutual understanding and to continue to support us in our professional contributions to national development,” he urged.
Their reconciliation has been widely welcomed by observers who see it as an example of responsible leadership, particularly at a time when public discussions often become polarized and personal.
