About 10 persons are currently feared dead in the accident that involved pupils from DS Elites Academy on their school bus Friday, November 11, 2022.

According to an update given by Paul Adu Gyamfi on Onua News Monday, November 14, he said aside from the six children who died on the day of the accident, the bus driver has also been confirmed dead with two other kids who were also identified dead inside the bush.

Reports indicate the 25 capacity Benz bus was carrying about double of the passengers it was supposed to take.

He reported further that a woman who has been married for the past almost two decades suffered to have a child just about two years ago only to lose him to the accident Friday.

He says the proprietor of the school has not been sighted since the incident, suspecting he might be under police hideout considering the mood of residents and families affected by the incident.

Background

A rickety Benz bus with registration number AW 6315-11 had 25 pupils from the DS Elites Academy when it slid of the road between Terchire and Adrobaa.

Eyewitnesses say the car somersaulted after sliding off the newly constructed road at a sharp curve.

Three of the pupils reportedly died on the spot whilst two gave up the ghost at the hospital shortly after.

Four others were in critical condition whilst the others sustained various degrees of injury.

The deceased and injured were transported between the Adrobaa Health Centre and St. John’s Hospital at Duayaw Nkwanta whilst the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital received the four with the life threatening injuries upon referral.

A teacher, who spoke on the matter, indicated that in their 15 years of operation, such an incident has never been recorded by the school.

Other residents also explained the Adrobaa-Terchire newly constructed stretch is an accident-prone area, adding that about four fatal accidents have been recorded in the past weeks.
