John Dramani Mahama has said his previous administration solved the incessant power challenges that bedeviled the nation some years ago.

Locally referred to as ‘dumsor’, Ghana underwent some years of power rationing due to the challenge of inadequate energy supply.

Reaffirming his commitment as a doer and not a President that laments and apportion blames, President Mahama has indicated that an emphatic statement he made in Parliament to solve the challenge exactly ten years ago was realised before his government handed over in 2017.

Presenting the State of the Nation Address (SoNA) in Parliament Thursday, February 27, 2025, President Mahama indicated that his administration handed over a country that was not facing any power challenge at the time.

“Yesterday February 26, 2025, marks exactly 10 years since I stood in this chamber, at this very spot, to declare my determination to fix dumsor, a legacy problem of power shortages and Mr. Speaker, I fixed it.

“I promised to fix it and I did and I wish to place firmly on record, that from January 2016 until I handed over the administration of this country on January 2017, there was no power rationing or load management in Ghana,” he stated.
