The Eastern Regional Minister-designate, Rita Adjei Awatey, says she has recognized the developmental challenges facing the region, which will require urgent attention.

She has been engaging with traditional rulers in the Krobo enclave for their support and blessings before her vetting.

The Minister-designate and her entourage visited the Manya and Yilo Krobo Traditional councils on Friday, January 17, 2025.

She was welcomed with cheers from residents and queen mothers amidst display of Krobo traditional songs and dance.

The Paramount Chief of Manya Krobo Nene Sakitey who doubles as the President of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs pledged support of the traditional council to the Eastern Regional Minister-designate.

“I am happy a daughter of our land has been chosen by his Excellency John Dramani Mahama to represent him in the Eastern Region. She has our support,” he said.

also pledged full support from his council and expressed confidence she will become an outstanding female Regional Minister.

The Eastern Regional Minister-designate Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, assured to serve with humility to address various challenges.

“From Kwahu Afram Plains North to Asuogyaman, New Juaben, Okere to Krobo here, we have a lot of challenges. Our roads are bad. We need water, our youth need jobs, our women must be in the market, we thank President John Dramani Mahama for his support and assurances, we will solve the challenges,” she stated.
