Reports reaching 3news is that the Walewale Constituency parliamentary primary conducted by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been declared by the Electoral Commission (EC) as null and void.

According to the Walewale EC Regional Director most of the ballot papers have been damaged and cannot be identified for party A or B.

On September 7, supporters of Mahama Tia Kabiru and Hajia Lariba Zuweira Abudu, the two contenders for the parliamentary candidate slot clashed at the forecourt of Eagle FM, a local radio station in Walewale.

Tension between their supporters have built up; sharp division among the constituency executives with some openly showing support for their preferred candidate, a development that also heightened tension.

A fisticuff between supporters of the opposing sides drew a swift police attention but, situation almost got out of control.

It is thus a case of tension before, during and after the election, culminating in the annulment of the results by the EC.
