Joseph Blackson Adumadze, a 37-year-old database administrator at the Electoral Commission (EC) has been granted bail by an Accra High Court in connection with stolen items belonging to the elections management body.

The third accused had earlier pleaded not guilty to the charges of conspiracy to steal and stealing.

In court on Monday, lawyer for Adumadze informed the Dansoman Circuit court that they were yet to serve the proceedings of the High Court on the Police for him to execute his bail, hence the absence of his client.

The three others, Philip Tetteh, a 26-year-old labourer, Benjamin Fienyi, a security man and Clifford Yeboah, however, remain in Police custody.

The prosecution led by Christopher Wonder said he was surprised that Mr Adumadzie had been granted bail by the High Court considering the national interest of the case.

Lawyer for 23-year-old Clifford Yeboah, said his client who is a student forfeited his exams because of the case, adding that some items which had been retrieved from him valued not more than GHC2,000 and hence prayed for bail for him.

According to his lawyer, Yeboah walked to the court as a freeman but was lawfully remanded by the court.

Prosecution prayed for few days to enable them finalise their investigations.

Prosecution said the Police has not retrieved the dell laptops which contained bio data and important information.

The case has since been adjourned to May 9.
