The electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has attributed the extensive power outage that occurred on June 26 to the severe rainstorm that hit parts of the Greater Accra Region.

This is contained in a press release dated June 26.

“The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) wishes to inform our cherished customers that the heavy rainstorm that hit parts of the Greater Accra Region today (Thursday, 26th June, 2025) has caused outages within our network,” the press release explained.

“ECG wishes to assure all affected customers that our Engineers are working assiduously to repair the faults and restore power supply,” it assured.

” Individual/localised outages and incidents of fallen or sagging conductors within customers’ vicinities should be reported to the ECG Call Centre on 0302-611611, the nearest ECG office, or reach us on our social media handles via @ECGghOfficial on Facebook, X, or Instagram for prompt intervention” the ECG urged.

A severe rainstorm hit parts of the Greater Accra Region in the evening of June 26. The over 2-hour downpour was characterised by strong winds which affected several areas.

The announcement by the ECG thus serves as an alert to enable electricity consumers make alternate arrangement as well as bear with them.
