The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is set to embark on a crucial preventive maintenance drive across the Ashanti Region this June, reinforcing its commitment to operational excellence and uninterrupted power supply.

‎Spearheaded by ECG’s Ashanti Sub-Transmission team, the project targets key primary substations that serve thousands of residential, commercial, and industrial customers. By taking a proactive approach, ECG aims to reduce outages, lower operational costs, and fortify supply reliability.

‎‎Ing. Edem Agra, Manager of Substations and Switchgear Maintenance, touched on the significance of the scheduled works:

‎ “This forms part of our Annual Maintenance Plan, which prioritizes proactive system care over reactive interventions. Our goal is to ensure long-term asset health, minimize system downtime, and ultimately give our customers the consistent power supply they deserve,” he said.

‎To achieve this, ECG technicians will upgrade and clean critical switchgear and transformers at the following substations:

– ‎Kaase Main D– Thursday, June 12, 2025
– ‎KTI Main G – Thursday, June 19, 2025
– ‎Fawoade Main W – Thursday, June 26, 2025

‎”Residents in these areas should stay informed about the scheduled works and anticipate brief outages as engineers complete maintenance tasks,”he stated.

‎‎Emphasizing ECG’s dedication to customer satisfaction and long-term reliability, Ing. Peter K. Fletcher, General Manager for Ashanti Sub-Transmission, highlighted the broader impact of the initiative:

‎ “This is more than wires and transformers. It’s a promise to our customers—to prevent outages before they happen, reduce system strain, and ensure a more robust power network that supports homes, industries, and businesses alike,” he assured.

‎With this initiative, ECG continues to invest in a resilient, future-ready energy grid to meet growing demand while minimizing disruptions.

‎‎”We maintain it today to prevent the outage tomorrow. We Ensure long-term asset health and reliable service for every customer.” Mr Fletcher said
