Government has commissioned 80 educational projects across the country.

Education Minister, Dr Osei Yaw Adutwum said the projects are an indication of government’s commitment to enhance access to education across the country.

At the official commissioning of some 80 government educational projects dubbed ‘Education transformation in Action’, the sector minister noted that this was the best educational transformation in the history of the country since independence.

The projects are a replacement of old structures with modern facilities aimed at meeting the quality educational needs of the Ghanaian student. Residents who are yet to receive any of the projects in their communities, are assured that it will be done in due course.

“I am excited and today I was very emotional when I visited St. Banabas. It was in such a state of disrepair that you will not even believe the closest school to the Ministry of Education will be in such a state. It’s unacceptable to have our schools in such a situation. And now see, they have a new structure and beautiful uniform. Let’s not make a mistake about that, what it means is that we can change our nation, change can happen in Ghana.

What you see is just a symbol of what is possible in our nation. Now we are doing stem in Ghana, 50 yrs behind South Korea, but the good news is that we have begun so when we say transformation, we are not thinking at the edges, we are talking about major things. We are changing things entirely. Education is seeing great transformation.” He emphasized.

According to the Minister, about 50 facility managers have been recruited to the various senior high schools to ensure the proper maintenance of the projects.

“Maintenance culture has always been an issue in the country and so we have recruited about 50 facility managers who will be sent to the various SHS to check the proper maintenance of the projects. They will report directly to the heads. The GETFUND projects will also make provisions for maintenance to ensure the projects are well taken care of” he said

The projects which included STEM-focused schools, junior high schools, E-blocks, and kindergarten facilities intended at supporting early childhood education were shown at concurrent ceremonies held at the various districts and regional levels.
