The Vice President and flag bearer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has taken his campaign tour to the Mallam Atta Market in Accra.
Some traders at the market, both men and women, welcomed the Vice President and opened up to him on their expectations in the upcoming elections.
Some traders who spoke during the visit declared their support for the Vice President, citing the Free senior high school policy as their reason for vouching for an NPP administration.
According to some traders, the policy has brought them relieve and progress to their children, stating it as the reason they support the Bawumia bid for 2024.
They declared that their vote for Akufo-Addo and the NPP has been beneficial and they will continue with that in the upcoming exercise.
“We voted for Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP and we can say that it has been beneficial because our children have benefited from Free SHS so we want to continue with the progress with Bawumia,” said one trader.
“My two children have benefited from the Free SHS and I am voting for the NPP and Bawumia,” said another, which echoed the reasons of many others.
For some, they feel President Mahama has not been consistent with his position on the Free SHS, saying that is the reason they cannot entrust him with the presidency again.
“We cannot trust Mahama and the NDC with Free SHS and the future of our children because we know what they said about it in the past. That is their real intentions,” another trader stated.
For another, “this market used to be very bad. And whenever it rained, it was very difficult for us. But now it has been developed with roads and all that. This is also another reason we will be voting for the NPP.”
Dr. Bawumia was in the market as part of his campaign tour of the Greater Accra Region on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.
