Musah Dankwa, the Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, has said the recent survey conducted by his firm shows the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is trading votes with Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen.
Mr. Kyerematen, who resigned from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to form the Movement for Change, has had 7% of the supporters from the NPP giving him their support in the April survey. But the numbers have reduced by 5% in June.
Consequently, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s support within the NPP has risen by 5% between April and June, indicating the direct relationship between the changes in the support for the two candidates.
Speaking with Nana Yaa Brefo Danso on Onua FM’s morning show, Yen Nsempa Wednesday, July 03, 2024, the Executive Director of the research firm, Musah Dankwa, indicated that Dr. Bawumia now stands at 88% regarding his support base within the NPP.
“Most of Bawumia’s gains are largely from Alan Kyerematen and not Mahama. Because Alan used to have 7% support among NPP supporters but has been reduced to 2% and Bawumia had 83% among NPP which has risen to 88% and that was really driving Bawumia’s improvement,” he revealed.
Generally, the recent poll by Global InfoAnalytics reveals that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flag bearer for the 2024 elections is gaining significant support among first-time voters.
According to the report which sampled 7,000 respondents, the trend indicates a shift in voter sentiment, particularly among the younger demographic, as the 2024 election beckons.
Per the survey report, the trade in votes between Dr. Bawumia and Alan Kyerematen shows how impactful the Vice President’s nationwide tour in June has enhanced his popularity within his party.
The survey also says the impact of first-time voters cannot be overemphasised in this election.
