The flag bearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has put five questions to the Vice President and flag bearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to answer as the December elections draw near.

He says although the Vice President, whilst in opposition, put some 170 questions to the then Vice President, Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, on his performance on the economy, those are not the ones Ghanaians want him to answer.

Mahama says Ghanaians want Bawumia to answer just five questions regarding the state of Ghana’s economy.

John Mahama, speaking to party faithful at Tatale in the Northern Region as part of his campaign tour Monday, October 28, 2024, he questioned why the Vice President is no more talking about the economy but has resorted to digitalisation.

He quizzed Dr. Bawumia on his abysmal performance on the economy saying Ghanaians need him to address the five issues instead of the 170 he gave to the former Vice President.

“He shouldn’t answer 170 questions. He should answer only three questions. Why is the exchange rate 17 cedis to the dollar? Question one, exam, he should come and write.

“Why has Ghana’s debt risen from GHC120 billion to GHC767 billion in 8 years? question two, he should come and answer. Question 3, why is inflation, where it is, why did it rise to 54%?

“Question 4, why did you borrow 42 billion cedis from the Bank of Ghana? He should come and answer those questions. You don’t need 170 questions. 170 if he wants, he can answer them himself but Ghanaians are asking only four questions, he should come and answer those four questions and explain to Ghanaians why we are where we are.

“The last question is, why has he run away from the economy to digitalisation?” he questioned.

He asked the gathering to vote massively for the NDC to make the government account for its deeds assuring that the NDC is the only question that can put hold them accountable.

“The only party who can hold the party that over the past 8 years have ripped and looted this country, to account is the National Democratic Congress,” he added.
