Flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has promised to build the Bolga Airport if elected in the December 07 polls.

He says although his erstwhile administration secured land for the project, the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government abandoned the project.

Speaking to residents of the Upper East Region as part of his campaign tour to the region, John Mahama promised to revisit the airport project to secure convenience for persons who may require that service for their travel.

“For those of us who have to travel urgently, an emergency comes and you have to travel, currently you have to drive to Tamale to go and catch the flight. When we came, we had selected a location for the Bolga Airport, we’ll continue the project of the Bolga Airport because it is possible to have a viable Bolga Airport,” he assured.

John Mahama explained that the planes can fly passengers from Tamale and Bolga together.

“The plane can take Tamale and Bolga passengers mixed, when it gets to Tamale it will drop the passengers, it will take the Tamale passengers to Accra, it will come to Bolga to drop the Bolga passengers and take the Bolga passengers who are going back to Accra,” he explained.

Meanwhile, he perceived the state of the economy could be worse than the government is currently presenting to the citizens.

He says he is going to go through the books and present the true state of Ghana’s economy to the people if elected.

According to him, many of the things he is promising to undertake if elected, are dependent on the state of the economy, something he says he won’t lie to Ghanaians about.

John Mahama says he is going to be truthful to the people all the time and expressed fears that the economy might be messier than being presented.

“There are a lot that we are going to do but what I promise you is that we are going to tell you the truth at all times. We are yet to go into government, I’m sure we’ll go and meet a messed economy, that we know, but maybe it’s worse than we thought it would be but when we come, we are going to look at the books and we are going to tell you what is in the books and tell you what the state of the economy is,” he assured.
