Sunyanimanhemaa Nana Akosua Dua Sika Asor Brayie II has charged former President John Dramani Mahama to choose his running mate from the Bono region.

The paramount queen mother, has noted that changing the running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2020 elections to select someone from the Bono region will brighten the fortunes of the party in the 2024 elections.

The NDC under the leadership of John Mahama settled on the first ever female Vice Chancellor in a public tertiary institution, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, of the University of Cape Coast as its running mate.

But after losing the poll to the incumbent New Patriotic Party, there are rumours of possible persons that could partner the former president for the next electoral exercise.

During his visit to the Bono region as part of his ‘Building Ghana’ tour, the paramount queen mother, Nana Brayie II, said it was time her region gets a Vice President since they have come from various parts of the country over the years.

“One thing that I’m pleading from my in-law is that, his wife is from here, his Chairman is from here, as well as other dignified persons of his party. That’s why we are solidly behind him.

“And to further strengthen our support for him, Vice Presidents have been chosen from all places across the country and this time around, I want him to select someone from Bono here so that we’ll vote and vote for him massively. We know the return of the NDC to power is the greatness is our people,” she urged whilst speaking in Twi.

Meanwhile, the paramount queen mother advised followers of the NDC not to betray Mr. Mahama at the eleventh hour.

According to her, many supporters will cheer the former President on in his campaign but would allow themselves to be swayed with peanuts to change their votes on the election day.

She said the victory of the NDC is a victory for the Bono people and wants everyone to rally behind John Mahama and the NDC.

“I’ll speak especially to you the supporters. You’re all cheering up our father, chanting his name here and there. But some of you do that just for something to eat. And at the time of the elections, someone will come and change your votes with chicken change.

“I want to plead with you that if you support someone and wants him to win to see changes in your life, you need to be firm with your stance. Don’t be deceived with rice and other things.

“Support him firmly because God is with him, the traditional council is with him and we know our prayer here today will go far,” she admonished.
