In a press statement, released on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, unveiling Nyaaba-Aweeba Azongo as his running mate for 2024 election, Presidential Candidate, George Twum-Barimah-Adu, indicated that Ghana is at the crossroads of a development crisis which requires a Twum-Barimah-Adu-Azongo Presidency to turn the tides.

The Independent Presidential candidate, exudes confidence in the achievements and expertise that Azongo, the man he has known and followed his exploits closely since 2006, brings to the ticket and believes that together they can take Ghana out of the 32 years of NDC-NPP duopoly and misrule to develop Ghana, grow the people and bring a common prosperity to all.

“Ghana is at the crossroads of a development crisis of historic magnitude which has become a tangible reality of which everyone is aware and whoever has this in mind would settle on a choice with the requisite intellectual depth and experience to navigate the current crisis, and not the current political circuses Ghana is being subjected to by NPP and NDC” George Twum-Barimah-Adu asserted.

“To Ghana, this is our choice for your future to build prosperity for all. A Twum-Barimah-Adu – Azongo Presidency is poised to inspire global excellence in Ghanaian leadership towards developing Ghana’s first development consensus in resolving the current economic crisis, the existential environmental threat confronting our dear country and to ensure an even and balanced development for the benefit of all,” the press statement assured.

Nyaaba-Aweeba Azongo holds an MPhil Degree in Development Planning from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and a Bachelor of Science Degree from the same institution.

He served as a Development Consultant to the National House of Chiefs from 2003 to 2011 and has a lot of publications on Chieftaincy and Development in Africa, one of such is: “System Approach to Development Planning in the Chieftaincy Sector” published for the National House of Chiefs in 2011.

Azongo’s professional works gained significant national and international recognition after his groundbreaking work with the late Daasebre Prof. (Emeritus) Oti-Boateng, following the development of the Root-Based Economic Development (r-BED) Model which was presented at the 79th session of the UN International Civil Service Commission meeting in Rome, Italy to rally global leadership behind a New Development Model.

This Model was subsequently recognized by the State University of New York (SUNY) with the conferment of Award in recognition of the root Based Economic Development (r-BED) model.

As a promoter of social and economic development, Azongo founded the Save Your Liver Foundation, a pioneering Liver health advocacy organization in Ghana, and currently has a presence in Nigeria, Malawi, Uganda and Zambia.

The statement went on to tout other achievements of Nyaaba-Aweeba Azongo, including: crediting him as founder of the ‘MOSES’ Foundation, a Pioneering Pan-African Old Students Leadership Institute. The first such Model in the World, designed to mobilize the Global Nation of old students in Building African Regional Cohesion for Sustainable Development, mobilizing for sustainable educational support in Africa, and inspiring global excellence in African leadership to influence the cause of Africa’s development.

Again, it states that he single-handedly brought on the MOSES Foundation Board a team of Eminent Ghanaians such as Prof. Agyeman Badu Akosa, Dr. K.E Mensah-Abrampa , the Late Director-General of the National Development Planning Commission , Dr. Ken Ashigbey of the Media Coalition against Galamsey , Nana Kwame Duah, a member of the Right to Information Commission and Ishmael Agyekumhene of the PURC to champion a cause for inspiring Global Excellence in African leadership and Regional Cohesion for Development.

“His most outstanding professional legacy in Ghana was his pioneering establishment and consultant to the Suame Magazine Industrial Development Organization (SMIDO) which gained extensive international recognition and gradually, is evolving into a global model for cluster development in the informal economic sectors of the world” Twum-Barimah-Adu announced.
