President-elect John Dramani Mahama has been urged not to limit his fight against corruption only on administrators of the outgoing government but also on his own appointees.

Daniel Yaw Domelevo, a member of John Mahama’s five-member committee to gather evidence for the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) made the call whilst speaking with Captain Smart on Onua TV’s morning show, Maakye, Thursday, December 19, 2024.

Domelevo says the focus of the incoming government should not be on those who indulged in corruption in the current administration who will be going on opposition after January 07, 2025, but also tackle his own appointees.

He explains that is the only means the canker would be tackled holistically.

According to the former Auditor-General, Ghana has not been able to reduce corruption to its barest minimum because perpetrators are not subjected to the law.

He indicated that people who especially align themselves with one political party or the other get away with their corrupt deeds without facing the full rigours of the law.

When asked why Ghana has not been successful in its fight against the canker, Mr. Domelevo said “because there are no consequences. I’ve said it always, especially if you are part of the government.”

“That is why I’m pleading that the former President who is coming back should not let his fight against corruption end with the previous administration but ensure it stretches to his own appointees for them to conform to his own principles,” he continued.
