Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has blamed the setting up of all manner of churches on the unemployment canker.
He made the point that when a person is unemployed and is desperately looking for a job, he often turns to a pastor for prayers. Kpebu expressed the view that this has enabled a lot of people to patrol around as men of God.
“Mushroom churches are an escape route for unemployment, mushroom churches. Unemployment is a huge push factor for these pastors, it pushes a lot of people into their hands. People are desperate so once you preach that you will have a job tomorrow, they come to you. The government should take a firm stance on it,” he said on the KeyPoints on TV3 Saturday February 7.
He was commenting on the failed prophecy that former Assin Central lawmaker Kennedy Agyapong would win the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer primary.
For instance, Prophet ElBernard, who prophesied a victory for Ken Agyapong in the NPP Flagbearer race, said he was intentionally taking a break from public declarations on national and political matters.
This follows the defeat of Ken Agyapong in the polls held on Saturday.
He also said he is stepping back from public teaching and preaching on the pulpit โfor a season.
