Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson on Tuesday, August 19, inaugurated a three-member Gold Board Tribunal mandated to hear appeals on licensing and other decisions of the Ghana Gold Board.

The tribunal, established under the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025, will serve as an ad hoc body to review appeals on licensing and resolve disputes arising from the board’s operations.

Introducing the newly sworn-in members, Dr. Forson assured that the tribunal would receive full support to function effectively.

“I am glad to inform you that His Excellency the President considers you competent enough to handle matters that will come before you and urges you to do your job diligently,” he said.

Chairperson of the tribunal, Biadela Mortey Akpadzi, pledged the panel’s commitment to fairness and transparency.
“It is by way of looking at the complaints that arise out of the decisions of the Gold Board and then also issues arising from the arbitration panel. So once those issues come up, we will deal with them,” he explained.

Dr. Forson further revealed that an administrator would soon be appointed to strengthen the tribunal’s operations.

The chairperson will be joined by Hamidu Mariam and Justin Pwavra Teriwajah in carrying out the tribunal’s work.
