The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has retrieved the body of a young schoolgirl from a pool of water at Kasoa, in the Central Region.

The incident occurred on the night of Monday (23 June 2025), after a distress call was received at 10:02 p.m. Fire personnel were swiftly dispatched to the scene and arrived at 10:28 p.m. Following a coordinated rescue effort, the lifeless body was recovered at 10:42 p.m. and handed over to the Ghana Police Service

 for further investigation.

The deceased, identified as Gloria Segoe, was a student of Keta Business Senior High School. According to preliminary information, she reportedly sought permission from school authorities to visit her grandmother in Agbozome but instead travelled to Kasoa to visit her boyfriend.

Meanwhile, an investigation is underway to establish the circumstances that led to the tragic incident and the events preceding her death.

 

In a statement, the Fire Service expressed condolences to the bereaved family and cautioned students and young people to make responsible choices regarding their safety and personal movements.
