A seven-bedroom residential building has been gutted by fire at Tanoso, near the Anglican Church in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region, leaving household belongings and other valuable properties destroyed.

The fire broke out at about 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, sending residents in the area into a frantic effort to contain the blaze.

Some residents suspect a gas explosion may have triggered the incident, although the cause of the fire has not yet been officially established.

Residents, including the Assembly Member for the Tanoso Electoral Area, Aaron Nandie, reportedly said faulty fire extinguishers and firefighting equipment in the surrounding area hampered their initial efforts to contain the flames.

Firefighters from the Chirapatre Fire Station later arrived at the scene and managed to bring the fire under control approximately one hour after it was reported.

Despite their intervention, household items and other properties inside the building were reduced to ashes, with virtually nothing salvaged.

The extent of the damage and the financial losses incurred are yet to be determined.
