Academic activities have come to a standstill after fire razed down the Girls’ dormitory of Dadiesoaba Nursing and Midwifery Training School in the Asutifi South District of the Ahafo Region.

Though the cause of the fire is yet to be known, some students through a telephone conversation said on Akoma FM’s GhanAkoma Monday, September 5, 2022 revealed that “the fire started from the Girls’ Dormitory at about 3pm on Sunday, September 4. Fire Service personnel responded to the emergency late because the time they arrived, the fire had already been doused so they came to gather the debris.”

The students complain they had to sleep in classroom at the mercy of the harsh weather.

But for the timely intervention of tutors and residents of the area who struggled to douse the inferno, it would have spread to nearby structures on campus.

In a video chanced on by Akoma FM, affected students are seen running helter-skelter from the blazing inferno.

Some of the students explained at the time the fire caught the dormitory, most of the students were at the washroom so the only clothes they had was a piece of cloth they wrapped around their waist.

District Chief Executive for the area, Robert Dwomoh Mensah who joined the conversation explained the situation has forced the Assembly to call for emergency stakeholders meeting to ascertain possible solutions to salvage the students’ plight.
