Former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, wife of former late President, Jeremiah John Rawlings, has died aged 76.

Sources close to the family say the venerable politician passed in the early hours of Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Ridge Hospital in Accra. Nana Konadu was born on November 17, 1948 in Cape Coast, the Central regional capital.

No official communication has come from the Rawlings family or government representatives as at the time this report was being filed.

Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, has been a known figure in Ghana’s political and social landscape.

Along the line, she fell out with the NDC, the political party formed by her husband, and formed her own party, the National Democratic Party (NDP).

Nana Konadu was a force to reckon with when it comes to women advocacy on gender empowerment and social development.

She was part of the dignitaries who laid wreaths at the Forecourt of the Jubilee House to honour the eight public servants who recently lost their lives in a helicopter accident.

Also among her recent public appearances was participation in the funeral rites for the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

On that occasion, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings was accompanied by two of her adult children, Amina Agyeman-Rawlings and Kimathi Agyeman-Rawlings. The three took turns to console Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on the loss of the Asantehemaa.
