Franklin Cudjoe thinks the Vice President and flag bearer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) is having challenges with his message to Ghanaians ahead of the December polls because of the President.
The founder and president of the IMANI Centre for Policy and Education says the Vice President is struggling with his campaign because of President “Akufo-Addo’s lackluster, gaslighting and disrespectful treatment” to the menace also known as ‘galamsey’.
In a birthday message sent to the Vice President Monday, October 07, 2024, Franklin Cudjoe asked Dr. Bawumia to explain to Ghanaians, the pragmatic roadmap he has to tackle the illegal mining menace now and after winning the election.
The IMANI boss also urged the Vice President to confront his “economic epistles” and juxtapose his quotations whilst in opposition with that of today.
According to Franklin Cudjoe, he knows whatever the Vice President said whilst in opposition was true then and same today, admonishing him to explain to Ghanaians why the cedi he inherited at 4 to the dollar, is now 17.
Find below the full birthday wish from Mr. Cudjoe to Dr. Bawumia:
“Happy birthday, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia . You are gifted. You changed the way politics was run in Ghana. You moved us from spin and propaganda to trading fact-based policies during elections.
Your sound economic quotes are memorable and indeed helped many understand that after all the gymnastics and double speak by government spin doctors, when the fundamentals are weak, the exchange rate will expose you. It was so true in 2016 when 1 $ =4 Cedis. On your birthday today, $1=17 cedis on online platforms. I was going to order a unique cake online for you, but the taxes demotivated me.
As a dear friend, my wishes on your birthday today are two.
1. Please be firm and confront the economic epistles you imparted that were true when in opposition and more so now that they seem not to have delivered the expectations. Perhaps you take all your memorable quotes between 2014 and 2016 and match them against reality today? Debt exchange, financial haircuts, high inflation?
2. We must hear you forcefully on your plans both now and if you win elections on how to defeat galamsey seeing as your boss, Nana Akufo-Addo’s lackluster, gaslighting and disrespectful treatment of the issue has largely led to a derailed election campaign for you. It is possible for you to do these two things. You have the gifts. Happy birthday Sir.”
