Nations FC Head Coach Stephen Frimpong Manso has ruled out discussions about a Ghana Premier League title challenge, stating that his immediate focus is on stabilising his team’s position and making progress in the MTN FA Cup.

Speaking to Akoma FM, Frimpong Manso admitted that the gap between Nations FC and the league’s front runners, coupled with the quality of opposition and the loss of key players, makes a title push unrealistic at this stage of the season.

“At the moment, we are not talking about winning the league. Our priority is to make sure we put the team in a very good position. When you look at where we are on the table, the gap between us and the front runners, and also consider the quality of those teams, it becomes clear that it will be very difficult,” he said.

The Nations FC coach, who won last season’s title with Bibiani Goldstars, further explained that recent squad changes have influenced his outlook on the league campaign.

“We have also lost a number of key players, and for these reasons, this is not the time to talk about the league title. Perhaps we can focus on the FA Cup, but as far as the league is concerned, it will be very, very challenging,” Frimpong Manso added.

With Nations FC currently competing in the Round of 16 of the MTN FA Cup, their coach says that competition has now become his main target.

“I’m not thinking about the league title at the moment. My attention is firmly on the FA Cup. We are in the Round of 16, and that is where my focus lies — trying to win and move forward in the competition,” he noted.

Nations FC will be hoping to build momentum through the MTN FA Cup as they continue their Ghana Premier League campaign, with the coach insisting that gradual improvement and competitiveness remain his primary objectives for the remainder of the season.

Nations FC will face Swedru All Blacks in the Round of 16.
