There is a looming fuel shortage in Damongo, capital city of the Savannah Region as tens of thousands of residents queue for the product at only one of the four stations in the area.
Three out of the city’s four fuel stations have completely run out of petrol, leaving Zen Petroleum as the only supplier of fuel for the entire region.
This has led to long queues at the station, as motorists, commercial drivers, and businesses rush to fill their tanks.
With supplies running low, many customers are finding themselves waiting for extended periods to purchase fuel. The uncertainty over how long Zen Petroleum’s remaining stock will last is causing growing anxiety among residents.
For some residents, this shortage is already affecting their livelihoods. Business owners who rely on fuel for transportation are particularly worried. If fuel supplies aren’t replenished soon, they fear their operations could grind to a halt.
Seidu Issah, a resident who traveled from a distant community to Damongo in search of fuel, expressed his frustration:
“I had to ride all the way from my village to Damongo to get fuel, and the wait is just unbearable. It’s hard to know when this situation will improve,” he lamented.
Meanwhile, Alhassan Ibrahim, a commercial driver, says the shortage is causing significant challenges for his business.
“If this shortage continues, I may have no choice but to park my car. It’s affecting not only me but also the passengers who depend on our services.”
Abdulia Abdul Samed, the manager of Petrosol, one of the fuel stations affected by the shortage, explained that the fuel scarcity was due to technical issues that have now been resolved.
According to Abdul Samed, fuel deliveries are expected to arrive by the end of the day.
“The shortage was caused by some technical difficulties with our supply system, but we have addressed the issue.
Fuel should be available again by the close of business today,” he assured.
He also reassured the public that there would be no increase in fuel prices, despite the current shortage.
“I want to assure everyone that there will be no price hikes. Fuel prices will remain the same as before.”
