John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, January 07, 2025, officially assumed office as Ghana’s sixth President of the Fourth Republic, after taking the oath of allegiance and the presidential oath.
Prior to his swearing-in, his Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, was sworn by the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo.
She makes history as Ghana’s first female Vice President, with Mahama’s second coming also being historic as the only President to have lost an election as sitting President and return to the presidency.
