Residents of Medie Ketewa, a suburb of Medie in the Ga West municipality of the Greater Accra region, have been thrown into a state of shock when a middle-aged man known as Opoku Agyemang was reportedly stabbed to death by his landlord over an electricity bill.
The 37-year-old Opoku-Agyemang with three children and a wife was reportedly owing an amount of GH¢30 for the electricity bill.
The 50-year-old landlord, Kofi Koranteng of five children, bolted after the act, and the case has been reported to the police for investigations.
The report indicates that the two, Opoku and Koranteng, are very good friends, even though Opoku is renting Koranteng’s house.
The eyewitness report says the two have been working colleagues for a long time, but one cannot find what actually brought about the exchanges over the GH¢30 electricity bill.
Enoch Idan Danquah, who chanced on the incident, reported to Onua News that the landlord invited Opoku to his room for deliberations over the bill payment because the landlord was not pleased with how Opoku pays his electricity bills.
The report says, in the process of the deliberation, the landlord allegedly pulled a machete and stabbed Opoku to death.
Currently, Kotoku police have conveyed the body to the mortuary for a postmortem.
