Five persons have sustained injuries in an escalated dispute between residents of Danchira and Domeabra communities in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

Some construction workers were attacked at Domeabra on Tuesday leading to the injuring of multiple persons. A critically injured person was transferred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, according to 3News.Com’s gathering.

In a reprisal attack, some community members from Danchira who “were traveling to Kasoa were accosted at Domeabra on Wednesday morning. They questioned us about yesterday’s event, but we denied knowledge of it, and they inflicted machete wounds on us”- said James Serebuor Commey an injured person who received care at a local health facility under police protection.

According to Francis Boateng who is the development chief of Domeabra, “it was not the first time such clashes occurred between the communities” citing that “there’s an existing dispute over borders”.

He however wants the “police to conduct an impartial investigation into this latest development which occurred as a result of a dispute over a half plot of land”.

The Chief fears that if the issue is not properly addressed, it may degenerate into a more volatile situation.

Meanwhile, the Weija Divisional Police Command has sent men led by Superintendent Eric Amponsah to restore calm in the area. Police are currently patrolling within both communities to foil any attempt to launch further retaliatory attacks.
