Following an Onua News report on a family that uses faeces and urine to ‘spice’ their food, the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey has visited them.
Fifty-six-year-old Leticia Okine and her two children confirmed cooking with urine and faeces at their abode at Bulemi Top in the Weija-Gbawe municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

The Minister followed up with Onua News’ reporter Akua Sarpomaa who broke the story and went to the residence of the family to pick them up to the hospital.

Dr Lartey said, “President John Dramani Mahama has told us not to leave anyone behind, and I hope you all would be happy when you see them in future”.

Minister added that “the President has instructed me to do comprehensive social interventions, but looking at the situation, the immediate one is that we are attending to their health and we will do the basic enquirers and once we get the needed information we are proceeding to the next level.”

She further stated that “the two children are not in school, and we will make sure they return to school.”
“We have taken them to the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Hospital, and they would be continuing treatment at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital. We are grateful to the reporter Sarpomaa and Onua TV for carrying this report,” she said.
