The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has justified the last-minute changes made to the officiating for Sunday’s MTN FA Cup final between Asante Kotoko and Golden Kick.

Selorm Yao Bless was originally appointed to referee the game with Paul Kodzo Atimaka and Theophilus Akugre as the Assistant Referee 1 and Assistant Referee 2 respectively.

Latif Abdul Adaari was supposed to be the Fourth Official with Thomas Nunoo as the Match Commissioner.

However, the originally-appointed referee suffered a knock minutes before the game was replaced by the Fourth Official.

“The decision was in line with standard practice, where the fourth referee assumes the role of centre referee in case of injury or illness to the main referee.

“The replacement was necessitated by the circumstances and not due to any conspiracy theories circulating in the public domain.”
