The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to discuss into detail a planned retreat for all members of the country’s football fraternity.

The discussion is part of the agenda for the Council at a meeting scheduled to be held on Wednesday, November 20.

“This retreat is anticipated to provide a platform for members and all stakeholders in Ghana Football to make insightful contributions to discussions aimed at enhancing the development of the game in Ghana,” the GFA said on its website on Monday, November 18.

Calls have heightened for a no-holds-barred discussion on Ghana football after the Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, the first in 20 years.

The dwindling fortunes of the team have been traced back to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, where Ghana exited the group stage after a 3-2 loss to debutants Comoros.

The team’s performance at the next edition was worse as they failed to pick a win in their three games.

The recent setback appears to have goaded the ExCo to hold the retreat.

No date has been announced yet but all will be discussed at Wednesday’s meeting.

The meeting has at the top of its agenda the Black Stars’ performance.

Other key issues bordering on the development of Ghana’s football will also be on the table.

Updates from the various competitions as well as national teams will also be discussed.
