Farmers in Ghana could soon enjoy greater access to local and international markets following the inauguration of a new Governing Board for the Ghana Commodity Exchange (GCX) on August 12, 2025 in Accra.
Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Nyarko-Ampem who swore in the seven-member Board, charged them to boost the Ghana Commodity Exchange’s capacity to connect farmers directly with buyers both in Ghana and abroad.
The Deputy Minister also urged the newly inaugurated Board to widen the range of commodities traded and underscored the need for their operations to be anchored in good governance and transparency.
Board Chairperson Nana Boadi Amponim Obadade III, in his acceptance speech, pledged to strengthen the Exchange’s operations and increase its overall impact on Ghana’s agricultural sector.
