The International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Executive Board on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, approved the Fifth Review of Ghana’s Extended Credit Facility (ECF) with the IMF.

The approval of the Bretton Wood Institution’s supported programme reflects how well Ghana has performed under the support, and acknowledges the government’s sustained efforts to support economic recovery by strengthening public finances and restore macroeconomic stability on a whole.

Ghana is expected to receive US$380 million from the Fund as its fifth tranche of the US$3 billion facility.

Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, in welcoming the approval, described the development as a milestone in the nation’s economic recovery.

According to the Finance Minister, the IMF Executive Board’s decision represents a clear vote of confidence in Government’s reform agenda and overall economic management.

“This is clear confirmation that Ghana is firmly resetting for growth, jobs, and economic transformation,” Dr. Forson stressed.
