John Dramani Mahama at a mini rally in Kintampo is questioning why the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is refusing to accept what Ghanaians say they are going through under this government.

The National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) flag bearer says whilst Ghanaians share what the economy has subjected them through, the NPP has been saying they have fed Ghanaians.

“It is our own stomach and we are saying we are hungry yet you claim we are full. How is that possible? When you are complaining of hunger in your own stomach, but the NPP will say you’ve eaten and gotten full. So, we need to learn from what we’ve been through,” he said Thursday, September 05, 2024.

He made a comparison of the exchange rate and some few commodities between his era as President and that of the current administration.

Comparing the prices of cement and fuel between the two regimes, together with the exchange rate, John Mahama said the NDC is in a better position to be given power in the upcoming elections than the NPP.

“I John Dramani Mahama has led this nation before and at the time, there was peace, food and a dollar to the cedi was GHC4.00. But today you need 16 cedis to get a dollar. When I was in charge, with GHC14.00 you could get a gallon of petrol. But today with GHC14.00 you will get just a litre. When I was in charge of Ghana, a bag of cement was GHC26.00 but today, how much is cement sold at Kintampo here? 100 cedis?

“And after all these, they are telling us Ghanaians’ lives are better off today than when Mahama was President,” he stated.
