The Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (CoMAC) has welcomed the revised implementation date for the new Energy Sector Levies Act 2025 (Act 1141).

The Chamber has lauded the stakeholder agencies at the sector for its engagement with its leadership, following the earlier implementation date which it kicked against.

In a Sunday, June 8, 2025 statement, CoMAC extolled the relevant ministries and agencies for heeding to their concerns against the earlier date which was scheduled for the implementation.

“CoMAC wishes to formally acknowledge and commend the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, the Ministry of Finance, the National Petroleum Authority and the Ghana Revenue Authority for the constructive engagements held, regarding the implementation date of the new Energy Sector Levies Act 2025 (Act 1141).”

Government had earlier earmarked Monday, June 9, 2025 for the implementation of the new levy which the Chamber kicked against. Following the development, the Ministries of Energy and Green Transition, Finance, the GRA and NPA, engaged the Chamber and came up with a new date which has been welcomed by CoMAG.

“The new effective date is now confirmed as Monday, 16th June 2025, replacing the initially communicated date of 9th June 2025. This decision reflects the value of dialogue, partnership, and engagement among stakeholders,” the statement added.
