The Elections Committee of the Ghana Journalists’ Association (GJA) has informed its members to disregard what it describes as a fake voter register circulating on social media ahead of its national and regional executive elections on Monday, June 30, 2025.

The Committee says the said list is a “mischievous fabrication” by some unscrupulous persons and has asked its members to visit the official website of the Association for the authentic register.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Committee, Peter Martey Agbeko, on Sunday, June 29, 2025, he said the authentic register of the Association is the one signed by the General Secretary and Treasurer.

Meanwhile, the Elections Committee is also urging all journalists who will be partaking in the exercise on Monday to comport themselves since any act that contravenes the regulations of the polls will not go unpunished.

The GJA has deployed peace enforcement officers across the country to all centres where the elections will be taking place to ensure there is law and order.

Ignore Fake Voter List – GJA Elections Committee Warns

The Elections Committee of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has noted with concern the circulation of a fake voters’ list on social media ahead of the National and Regional Elections scheduled for tomorrow, Monday, June 30, 2025.

The Committee urges all members to ignore this mischievous fabrication and rely solely on the official voters’ register, which has been duly signed by both the GJA General Secretary and Treasurer.

If in doubt, members are advised to visit the official GJA website or contact the Elections Committee directly for verification.

In a related development, the Committee has served notice that the Ghana Police Service will be on standby across all regional voting centres. Any individual or group that attempts to cause confusion will be promptly escorted out of the premises.

All voters are advised to comport themselves responsibly to avoid any embarrassing incidents.

Identification for Voting

For the avoidance of doubt, only the following valid forms of identification will be accepted:

  • Ghana Card
  • Voter’s ID Card
  • Ghanaian Passport

Each must bear the journalist’s name and photograph.

Let us all work together to ensure a peaceful and credible election.

May the best candidates win – and may the GJA be the ultimate winner.
