In a recent show Adwuma Adwuma on Onua Fm, the Entertainment show host of Onua Showbiz, Nana Kwame Gyan discussed the criticism most celebrities get after they have been granted interviews.

He said this after TV personality and Co-host of TV3’s New Day, Cookie Tee together with the Gospel singer, Celestine Donkor apologized for jokes on Ewe surnames during a live telecast of a show on TV3.

The gospel singer during an interview on Today’s Woman with Cookie Tee over the weekend, said she once prayed to God for a husband without ‘heavy’ ewe surname which is common in her culture.

While passing a comment on Ewe surnames, the host, Cookie Tee whose maternal side is ewe also agreed with Celestine’s sentiment, stating she did not want to marry a man with a difficult-to-pronounce Ewe name.

Nana Kwame highlighted that, they only made that statement as a joke but wasn’t making mockery of the Ewe tribe, so he doesn’t see the need for people to condemn them for making that statement

He also emphasized on how Celestine Donkor regards the tribe because she uses the Ewe language in most of her songs. “Let’s not bring tribalism because we have grown past that. Ewe women are very sweet. I have been with an Ewe lady before so I have the experience and I know what I am talking about”.

Nana noted that, they were just having fun and also trying their best to make the show very lively so Ghanaians should stop criticizing people on some of the statements they make during interviews. “For all you may know, those people making these comments are not fully Ewes. Let’s stop the criticism,” He advised Ghanaians.
